In October we launched a new reading accountability program encouraging students to read 20 minutes a night. Well November is here, and congratulations to the following students for reading half of their goal or more!
1. Davis T.
2. Ethan W.
3. Claira J.
4. Rebekah H.
5. Dixie R.
6. Hunter S.
All students that read 400 ( 20 min x 5 nights a week x 4 weeks) or more minutes in November will receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut. November just started and it’s not too late to hand over your device or use a paper log and encourage your child to read! I know we can do this and I challenge all of my students to reach their goal and share their avatar with the class! 🙂
Reminder that tomorrow is picture day and every student will have their picture made for the yearbook. You may visit mylifetouch.com and enter thePicture Day ID: HC504483Y0 to order and print out your receipt to give to the photographer on Picture Day if you would like to preorder. Say CHEESE!! 🙂
Just a reminder that tomorrow, September 17th, Intermediate students will be dismissed at 12:00 for staff development. Bus transportation will be provided.
Parent Orientation has been scheduled for the parents of intermediate students on Monday, September 15th, from 5:30-6:30. Parents, please mark your calendars and make plans to attend.
Be sure to go to our Facebook Page and “Like” White Oak Intermediate to keep up with the most current information about our campus.
I am so excited to welcome everyone to 3rd grade! My name is Jessica Altman and this is my first full year of teaching here at White Oak. I graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler in December of 2013 and started teaching at White Oak in January of this year. I will be teaching language arts, reading and social studies this year and my awesome partner, Mrs. Odom, will be teaching math and science. Please join us on Thursday, August 21 from 4:30-5:30 for “Meet the Teacher Night” so that we can get to know one another as we prepare for a new school year. I look forward to meeting everyone!!
On Thursday, April 17 from 10-11 am, third grade will be building their own waffles with all the fixins’ and scrumptious toppings. Each child received a letter with one item to bring in before (or on the day if you’re bringing batter, strawberries, bananas, etc.) the BIG day. We appreciate your help in making this a memorable experience for all.
After our “waffle time,” we’ve reserved the playground for some outside play time. You are more than welcome to check your child out (Just BE SURE and sign out with your child’s teacher).
In addition, each child was also given an egg to decorate. It may be painted, colored, decorated with stickers, etc. Fill the egg with goodies (NO chocolate or nuts). Thank you! We’ll be doing something fun with the eggs, so please make sure your child sends this back.
I’m counting down the days to this EGG-citing day.
Thanks for all your help!
An Early Release is scheduled for Tuesday, November 26th. Primary students will dismiss at 11:00 and Intermediate students will dismiss at 11:30. We hope that each of you will have t the opportunity to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with the people you love. We will see you on Monday.
School Picture Retakes

If you failed to get your picture made in the first round or you are a new student at White Oak, please make sure that you come prepared to SMILE for the camera on Thursday.
After a drum roll in class, the BIG reveal took place! Our new iPods have arrived! Lobue wants to thank everyone for voting, bringing in codes, and to those who donated to make our classroom a 21st century classroom. We appreciate you!
I’m looking forward to meeting the parents of our wonderful 3rd grade students. Please stop by from 4:30-5:30 in Mrs. Altman’s classroom, room #201. Can’t wait to meet you!
